#SelfCareSaturdaysWithCazoshay: Face Masks and Scrubs
Welcome to the first day of #SelfCareSaturdaysWithCazoshay! Self care and beautification rituals have been around for centuries and today we will be discussing face masks and scrubs. I chatted with apothecary, aromatherapist and herbalist Wisteria Ward of Needful Things Natural Home and Body Care about the benefits of masks and scrubs for your skin.
Holistic wellness expert Wisteria Ward says, "[masks and scrubs] pull toxins from the epidermal layer. They're good for circulation and provide a passive way to tighten the muscles in your face. They nourish the skin and help to slough off dead cells."

Check out my previous post on making your own orange peel powder, which can also be consumed internally for a boost of all-natural vitamin C. Livestrong reports that there is "8.2 mg [of vitamin C] in a single tablespoon of [orange] peel. Other vitamins include riboflavin, thiamin, niacin, folate, vitamin A, vitamin B-6 and vitamin B-5. The peel’s mineral content includes 10 mg of calcium along with small amounts of iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, copper and selenium."
Homemade orange peel powder is the key ingredient in my simple, two-ingredient Face Scrub DIY below. This scrub is great for sensitive skin because of the fine texture of the orange peel powder, which allows for less irritation than scrubs with harder, more corse ingredients.
1-2 tablespoons powdered orange peel
1-2 tablespoons coconut oil
Combine all ingredients. (Adjust amounts of ingredients to create the texture that you like)
As a mask, leave on for at least 20 minutes, then rinse off. You can also massage it into your skin like a scrub after the 20 minutes before rinsing off for double duty benefits.
As a scrub, gently massage into face and then rinse.
