Needful Things ©Cleopatra's Mystery Nontoxic Cleaning Bombs

Happy #SustainableSaturday! I don't know if that's a thing, but now that I've said it, it is. Today's post is giving you an awesome DIY for some amazing multi-use, nontoxic cleaning bombs using one of my favorite home products from Needful Things Natural Home and Body Care: Cleopatra's Mystery Cleaning Vinegar. A good friend of mine once said, "if you don't like the way your house smells after using vinegar, then your house has never truly been clean." 🤣 It's funny but I'm inclined to agree! Plus, FIY, the vinegar smell goes away pretty quickly.

The name of the Needful Things cleaning vinegar actually has a pretty interesting story behind it. Legend has it that Cleopatra made a wager with Julius Caesar that she could consume a fortune's worth of pearls. Caesar undoubtably thought that there was no way that she could do that. Cleopatra, being the intelligent African pharaoh that she was, called for a large vase of vinegar. (She was also a diplomat, naval commander, linguist, and medical author.) She placed the pearls in the vinegar, which dissolved the pearls, that she then drank. That'll surely cure what ails ya'! The NT Vinegar doesn't contain dissolved pearls, but it does contain a proprietary blend of essential oils that really boost the germ-fighting power.

These multi-use cleaning bombs I've created containing washing soda, borax epsom salts and the NT Vinegar are one way to help both yourself and the environment because they don't contain the harmful chemicals most mainstream cleaning products contain. Plus, it's fun to be empowered to make your own products that you know are going to be safe for you and your loved ones to use.

  • 1/4-1/2 Cleopatra's Mystery Cleaning Vinegar

  • 1/2 Cup Epsom Salts

  • 1 Cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda

  • 1 Cup Borax

  • 8-10 Drops of your favorite essential oil (lavender, tea tree, lemon and rosemary are all great ones for their antiviral and anti-fungal properties-keep in mind if used for laundry, the EOs might leave oil spots on clothing)

  1. Combine dry ingredients & essential oils if you're using them.

  2. Pulse in a blender or food processor, or use a hand mixer until the dry ingredients are well combined & don't have any lumps. If you can mix fast, you can use a fork and stir it as you add the vinegar.

  3. Pour into a bowl, slowly add Cleopatra's Mystery & use a hand mixer to stir as you pour. You can also do this step with a food processor.

  4. Spoon mixture into an ice cube tray, tapping the tray on the counter to make sure there are no holes in your Bombs. (The plastic ones with silicone bottoms work best.)

  5. Let dry at least 4 hours before popping them out of your tray to use.

  6. Enjoy the nontoxic goodness!

  • Dishwasher Pellets

  • Dissolve in sink of warm water to hand wash dishes

  • Detergent Bombs for washing clothes
