Easy Raw Cacao Truffle Balls

Modern-day science has confirmed what we knew all along...that chocolate is the most amazing substance on planet earth. Okay, that may be a little bit of an exaggeration, but we can't deny the numerous benefits that the superfood cacao has to offer. It's full of antioxidants, has more than 300 phytochemicals and contains protein, calcium, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, magnesium, and sulfur. It also contains phenethylamine, which triggers the release of endorphins and pleasurable opium-like neurochemicals. These often flow naturally when we fall in love and during sexual activity.

I love that through a mostly raw vegan and plant-based lifestyle, I've been able to recreate certain foods as healthier, more beneficial versions of the originals. Such as these easy no-bake raw chocolate fudge balls. They don't contain refined sugar and are good for those with nut allergies because the recipe uses tahini rather than a nut butter. (You can sub it for cashew butter if you want.) Kids love these and they're great for entertaining since they're easy to make and serve, not to mention ridiculously delicious! Read on below for the super simple recipe.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor
  2. Form into balls and let cool in the fridge for at least 40 minutes.
  3. Roll balls in cacao powder or dust across the tops and enjoy!

*You can make these minty by adding 2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil before blending.
