The Grand Art Show at The Monastery
The Grand Art Show
A statewide artist showcase at The Monastery AZ. Come see two of my original sustainable art pieces: “Nireti Pe O Sun Daradara” (“hope you slept well” in Yoruba) and “Unasura Nzuri Sana” ("You're so handsome" in Swahili).
This fall, The Monastery AZ is proud to host a comprehensive new exhibition featuring 60 artists from across the state of Arizona. From bold abstracts to quiet landscapes, this curated collection celebrates the diversity of talent in our region.
With a wide range of styles, themes, and mediums on display, The Grand Art Show offers art that’s as accessible as it is inspiring. Whether you're looking for that perfect piece to brighten your home, energize your office, or begin (or grow) your collection, you'll find thoughtfully priced works from emerging and established Arizona artists — most under $500 and sized to suit any space.
Come experience a rotating, ever-fresh collection in a space dedicated to creativity, reflection, and community.
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 27 | 5–8PM

Unstandard—Songs in the Key of She
I am creating an original art piece for this dynamic show taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona—inspired by a song of the performer’s choosing, the artwork from several Arizona-based artists will be on display during the performance.
Unstandars is a genre-bending cabaret built from deep cuts, unsung verses, and the kind of songs you stumble on when your heart needs saving. Unstandard isn't a tribute - it's a mixtape of memory, longing, and reinvention, with music by Jill Scott, Amy Winehouse, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Marley, and Cecile McLorin Salvant.
Singer Felicia Penza and pianist Cory Dugar guide the audience through 10 musical movements - charting a path from infatuation to epiphany - with storytelling, humor, and R&B/jazz reinterpretation. Each track becomes an act of reflection, healing, and self-love.

Art X-Change at The Monastery
Artist-2-Artist Trade + Public Sale Event
On Sunday, September 14, join us for an afternoon of trading and collecting at the first annual Art X-change. Hosted by The Monastery AZ, this artist-2-artist trade and sale event is designed to give artists a chance to trade or offer older works at more accessible pricing, and to give novice collectors a chance to grow their collection.
From 1PM–3PM, participating artists are invited to bring older works, end-of-series pieces, or personal favorites they’re ready to let go of—and swap, barter, and trade with fellow creatives. It's a chance to build your personal collection, make meaningful trades, and share your work with others who truly understand its value.
Then from 3PM–6PM, The Monastery opens its doors to the public. Art lovers, curious newcomers, and aspiring collectors can explore a wide range of original works—many available at special, accessible prices. It’s the perfect opportunity to support local artists, take home something original, and maybe even start your own art collection.
Echoes of Fall at Awita Gallery NYC

Art Enables Exhibition
I’m honored to announce that my art piece, “Face Card Never Declines” will be featured at the Art Enables “Outside Forces” show in September in Washington, D.C.! I’ll be sharing more details on how to go see it, but here’s a little info to save:
September 2nd: The exhibition is open to the public
September 6th, 5 - 7 pm: Opening reception at Art Enables
October 25th: Final day of exhibition
I’m so excited to be featured alongside other disabled artists. This is my first official-official show after being struck by a car traveling 48mph in downtown Phoenix and becoming disabled. I call myself a “re-emerging artist” because I’ve been an artist almost my whole life, but after becoming disabled in 2017, I’m only just now able to create art again on a limited and modified basis. I feel very blessed!
If you’re in the DMV area, I hope you’ll stop by the exhibition!

October Resilient Roots Meeting-MOVIE NIGHT!
Image from Directorsnotes.com
Grab your popcorn as we come together to watch the short documentary film, “Jelly Brain.” The viewing will be followed by a discussion.
Quote from Kieran Nolan, director and son of the movie subject:
“The emotional maelstrom of first thinking my Mom was going to die, then watching the person who had brought me into this world and raised me become a different person was the most terrifying thing that had happened to me. So that got me thinking, could I tell my Mum’s deeply personal story whilst infusing a layer of emotive true life horror? That is how Jelly Brain was born." Full Interview
Join us as we come together to watch and discuss this relatable and informational film.*Note, this is not a scary or graphic movie
